Davis Vision Center is a one stop Salt Lake City eye care center. We have an optical and contact lens center. We offer routine eye exams for the entire family as well as exams for all types of eye diseases. We also offer cosmetic services, including Botox and dermal fillers. Meet Dr. Brian Davis, M.D.

Dr. Davis is a Salt Lake City native. He attended the University of Utah where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering in 1985. As an engineer he developed an interest in lasers and worked with the research and development of lasers for eye surgery. This was twelve years prior to Lasik surgery becoming available to the public in the US. He then attended Medical School in St. Louis, MO where he also graduated Magna Cum Laude and was nominated to the medical school honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. He served an internship at LDS hospital in Salt Lake City and Ophthalmology residency at University of California, San Diego. He was one of the first Ophthalmologists in Utah to perform laser refractive surgery in 1996. He has been the president of the Summit/Wasatch county medical societies, medical director at LASIK Vision Institute, and director of the eye injury registry of Utah. Dr. Davis has also been a medical commentator on Fox and KSL TV as well as the Salt Lake Tribune and is involved in ongoing ocular research and the prevention of blindness.

Dr. Brian Davis enjoys most all outdoor activities, especially bicycling and golfing. He is also an exercise enthusiast. He is the proud father of three girls and a boy, who along with his wife, are the loves of his life.

We are excited to have Dr. Davis as our surgical director because he offers unmatched abilities and phenomenal results to our patients. With his extensive Lasik experience and knowledge of lasers, there is no other surgeon like him.

Kurt Hepworth, O.D.

Dr. Kurt Hepworth is a native of Idaho and did his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry where he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society.

After graduation, Dr. Hepworth completed a residency at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT where he specialized in ocular disease and primary care. A unique element of his residency was performing specialized contact lens fits at the Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, UT.

He has particular interest in fitting specialty contact lenses on patients with kertoconus, high astigmatism, irregular corneas, and post corneal transplants. Dr. Hepworth’s research demonstrates enthusiasm about continually learning and progressing as an eye care provider. He has presented his research on “The Treatments and Systemic Associations of Keratoconus,” and “Interferon Retinopathy Associated with the Treatment of Hepatits C,” at national and international conferences.

Dr. Hepworth has cared for many diverse groups of patients including children, Spanish speaking patients, legally blind patients, Veterans, and patients advanced in age. He is very personable and upbeat, and has a unique ability to relate to the patients he cares for. Dr. Hepworth enjoys volleyball, snowboarding, and the great outdoors. He and his wife Kanani are parents of three wonderful sons.

Dr. Justin Johnsen

Davis Vision is pleased to announce Dr. Justin Johnsen, an orbital and facial plastic surgeon is joining our team. He will be accepting patients starting November 23, 2009. Please join us on November 19, 2009 from 5p.m. to 7p.m. for a cosmetic open house and meet Dr. Johnsen in person. He will be available to answer any questions you have concerning cosmetic procedures. We are excited to offer our patients this new service with a highly qualified surgeon.

Dr. Justin Johnsen was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah. He attended medical school at Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed his residency at Vanderbilt in Nashville Tennessee. He finished a fellowship in Michigan with world renowned surgeon Dr. Thomas Spoor. He then spent 2 years as an associate professor of Ocular plastic surgery at Duke University. He directed an ocular facial medical facility and practiced in sunny Florida. Dr. Johnsen and his wife chose to move back to Utah to raise their children and enjoy the excellent outdoor recreation. During his training and subsequent teaching, he developed a special interest in ocular and facial trauma. He was able to sharpen his surgical skills, becoming an expert in the very latest cosmetic surgical techniques. With his surgical skills and knowledge base, he is able to offer the very latest cosmetic surgical and laser advances; which shorten anesthesia time, decrease bruising and swelling and reduce recovery time.

Dr. Johnsen enjoys spending time with his wife and five children. His other interests include: Golfing, weight lifting, water skiing, football, tennis, attending movies and reading excellent books.
